| Question: What is encryption? top | |
| Answer: Prevents any non-authorized party from reading or changing data. The level or protection provided by encryption is determined by an encryption algorithm. In a brute-force attack, the strength is measured by the number of possible keys and the key size. For example, a Triple-Data Encryption Standard system (3 DES) uses 112-bit or 168-bit keys and, based on currently available processing power, is virtually immune to brute-force attacks. Business to Business VPN's (Extranets) share sensitive data with multiple organizations, so demand the highest level of security. This requires public key encryption and/or secure key exchange, both of which are designed to eliminate the risk of the key becoming known to an unauthorized party.

| Question: Do you really offer free DNS? What is DNS? top | |
| Answer: Yes. We handle our own DNS and therefore can pass on the savings to you. With a few details provided by you, we will be happy to setup the DNS per your needs.
DNS stands for Domain Name System. Simply put, it is the phone book for the internet. It translates human-readable computer hostnames (like ZipMoon.com) into the IP address that networking equipment needs for delivering information. Without it, there wouldn't be much use for the internet. Every site should have DNS or "phonebook" entries so people surfing the web can find your domain (your internet site with your custom name). |

| Question: What is an alias? top | |
| Answer: You can think of an alias as a nickname. An example would be john5@mydomain.com, johnny@mydomain.com, and jon@mydomain.com all resolve to the same email address: john@mydomain.com. Someone sending an email to john5@mydomain.com will be successful in sending an email to john@mydomain.com because john5 is an alias for john. | |
|
|
| Question: What is a forwarder? top | |
| Answer: While it sounds very similar to an alias, it is not an alias. A forwarder is as exactly as it sounds. It takes email received at one address and forwards it to another. For example, you can have john@mydomain.com forward all of its email to john@gmail.com if you so choose. | |

| Question: What is a mailing list? top | |
| Answer: Mailing lists are great. You can mass email a group of people by just sending an email to one address. Using this for spamming is forbidden. Take a look at our legal statement. A proper use of a mailing list would be as follows:
I wish to email my family (which in my case includes many people). I can setup a mailing list that includes the email address of each person. The mailing list is then given an email address such as family@mydomain.com. When I email family@mydomain.com the email is sent to every person in the list. |
